We have been waiting for this: a joint performance by Olivier Latry and Shin-Young Lee, international organ royalty, playing the organ with four hands and feet! The first and last pieces on this dance-themed programme form a dramatic contrast.
The programme begins with an elegant French flavour in the form of a ballet opera by Jean-Philippe Rameau and ends with the most savage dance in the history of music, Igor Stravinsky’s Le sacre du printemps, where a young girl dances herself to death as an offering to the gods of spring. The organ version of the piece, adapted from Stravinsky’s own piano arrangement, has enchanted critics worldwide.
