Thierry Escaich, organist at Notre-Dame in Paris, is one of the most sought-after French organist-composer-improvisers in the world. Numerous competition victories have fuelled a successful international career since his graduation from the Paris Conservatoire in 1990. Following in Maurice Duruflé’s footsteps as organist of the Saint-Etienne-du-Mont church in Paris since 1997, Escaich is an ambassador of the French school of improvisation, touring the world as a soloist with top orchestras and combining both traditional repertoire and improvisation in his recitals. Escaich is also Professor of Composition and Improvisation at the Paris Conservatoire and his works are regularly performed by top European orchestras and chamber ensembles.
Escaich has been awarded the French music industry’s Victoires de la Musique five times and his recordings for the Chamade and Calliope labels have received numerous awards.
