Organist Paolo Oreni is one of the most spectacular contemporary virtuosos, who studied under the direction of Jean Guillou (1930–2019). The French Guillou renewed organ art through playing, composing, improvisation, and organ building. In this concert, Oreni performs an intriguing selection of his teacher’s transcriptions that fit perfectly on the Music Centre’s Rieger organ. We will hear Guillou’s masterful transcriptions of familiar compositions by Mozart, Liszt and Tchaikovsky.
