Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks is often mentioned in the same breath as his Estonian colleague Arvo Pärt, and no wonder: both composers’ music has a soothing, mind-clearing effect.
Counted among the international choral elite, the Latvian Radio Choir serves up a musical banquet for Vasks’s 80th birthday in April 2026 with a selection of songs calling for calm. Organist Tuomas Pyrhönen puts the cherry on the cake by playing Vasks’s song for peace, Cantus ad pacem.
The Finnish Broadcasting Company Yle will record the concert, and and it will be broadcast on Yle Radio 1 on May 13 at 7 p.m. The concert will be available afterwards on Yle Areena.
